About Aideen
Originally from Ireland, Aideen has lived in the UK for 26 years. She’s the eldest of five siblings, happily married with two teenage sons, and shares her home with two Shih Tzu dogs who greet everyone who visits.
She’s always naturally gravitated towards working with people. Her career began in nursery and primary education, and over the years she’s volunteered with support groups and charitable organisations, including The Samaritans and women’s shelters, and spent several years as chairperson for a preschool. During lockdown she supported adults through befriending and counselling calls, and worked as a trainee counsellor facilitating face-to-face and telephone sessions with children in secondary schools.
Alongside counselling, Aideen has worked with Reiki energy, including Angelic Reiki, for twelve years. She describes it as something that promotes her own well-being and health, radiating “healing, clarity, focus,” and giving her time for stillness: to relax, listen to her body, and recalibrate.
“I feel that when clients allow themselves to trust the process, a deep rapport and connection is established in sessions which encourages them to relax and allow their vulnerable selves to embark on a journey of letting go of whatever no longer serves them.”
Working as a qualified person-centred counsellor, Aideen provides a trusting environment to communicate the emotions that hold people back. Sessions are self-directed: every client connects with their own feelings at their own pace, and Aideen’s role is to offer a safe, confidential space to listen to your own needs.
She sees Reiki and counselling as two separate therapies that sometimes link and overlap, each complementing the other. Whichever you choose, she aims to offer unconditional positive regard, empathy, and warmth.

Aideen is a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), membership number 391991.
